About Time!
It’s about time we solved that War in Ukraine problem!
I’m not quite sure how we did it, but it evidently just disappeared, there is no mention of it on today’s news. Is it over? To steal a line from Crosby, Stills, and Nash on Wooden Ships: “there’s just one thing I’ve got to know, can you tell me please, who won?”
It seems that all we have to do is commit another atrocity somewhere else and every “talking head” will flock to the nearest camera or microphone and tell us about their thoughts on the subject. I cannot remember when an impromptu opinion ever caused a solution. This time it was another tragic school shooting. It is like there is a script and everybody has their part to act out. The additional tragedy is that like every other time we will run out of airtime before we make any progress eliminating this continuing problem
The clues are posted on Facebook or Twitter and EVERBODY just scrolls past to get to the next Tik Tok video that the world just has to share. Sometimes people mindlessly click like on a comment “I’m going to shoot up a school”, and maybe even agree that “it’s about time”, LOL, in the comments. My question is who’s right, who’s left or who’s wrong. Better yet who is paying attention. What is even worse is that nobody even twitched when I actually said ANOTHER school shooting.
Guns aren’t the problem, restricting who uses them might help.
That solution does not take away your rights, the Second Amendment currently looks like this:
Justice Scalia lent the (Supreme) Court’s weight to the idea that the Second Amendment protects the right of individual private gun ownership for
self-defense purposes.
In the majority ruling in two recent cases, Justice Samuel Alito wrote: “Self-defense is a basic right, recognized by many legal systems from ancient times to the present day, and the court held that individual self-defense is ‘the central component’ of the Second Amendment right.”
Protect yourself! Enough said!
Stop this dancing about whether or not you should own guns. Take a look at what the NRA was originally found for. To improve marksmanship on a scientific basis. This was in 1891, boy how things have changed. You can own gun, but God help anybody who tries to tell you what you can do with it.
We don’t have the right to kill school kids, or anybody else, we have the right to defend ourselves, we do not have the right to play God! We do have the right to learn from our history.
Let’s take a moment this Memorial Day holiday to remember all those who have left us, always too soon, and figure out how to respect and protect the people we still have in our lives.
